Kelsey is a registered nurse, educator, and medical mom. She created Our Hearts Grow after her own heart was forever changed by her journey to and through motherhood. Her journey involved infertility, IVF, loss, a high-risk pregnancy, and giving birth to an amazing child who happens to have complex medical needs. Through these challenges came an undeniable need to connect with others who have similar lived experiences. A longtime advocate for health equity, women and children’s health, and trauma informed healthcare, Kelsey’s passions have expanded to include disability parenting and advocacy. Kelsey believes children and families need inclusive and accessible opportunities to connect by way of art and nature to explore innate individuality and creativity. She believes everyone deserves a space where they feel like they belong and are celebrated for exactly who they are. She is a lover of creativity, nature, and community.

Kelsey holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, a Bachelor of Arts in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and a Master of Arts in Health Studies (Health Education and Health Promotion). 

She is a Registered Nurse in the State of New York and an Instructor in the Public Health Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her professional background includes health literacy consulting, health writing, public health curriculum development, teaching, postpartum nursing and service coordination for Medicaid waiver programs. She wrote the LGBTQ+ health curriculum and lesson plans for the Public Health Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She also designed art-based workshops and lesson plans on self-advocacy in healthcare settings for limited literacy audiences. She looks forward to pouring years of professional and lived experience into Our Hearts Grow.
